Hi everybody! I decided to start this blog as a personal history of my life in Cambodia and for those of you who are interested in my life there. Just as a little background: I was selected as an ASPH/CDC Allan Rosenfield Global Health fellow in Cambodia for one year (possibly two). I will primarily be based in Phnom Penh. The fellowship is with the CDC Global AIDS Program (GAP) and I will be working on a variety of issues relating to HIV like maternal/child health, TB, and general surveillance.
Currently, I am in Atlanta undergoing orientation with the other fellows who will be stationed all over the world. I will be the only fellow going to Cambodia but there is another fellow going to Thailand. We are the only ones in SE Asia. So far, orientation has been very enlightening. There is a lot to learn but this is a one in a million opportunity and I am very excited to begin!
I will be flying to Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Oct 1, 2009. Stay tuned for more...
